23/09/23 - A new paper on Finite Froude and Rossby numbers counter-rotating vortex pairs is available online (open access).

10/09/23 - A recent paper on the vertical alignment of two like-signed quasi-geostrophic vortices in near collapse interactions is available online (open access).

    I am a Senior lecturer in Applied Mathematics and a member of the Vortex Dynamics Research Group in the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of St Andrews.

   The other members of the group are Professor D.G. Dritschel, Dr D. Lemasquerier, Dr D. Lucas, Dr D. Rees Jones, Dr R.K. Scott .

   My main research is on geophysical vortex dynamics.
